Liebster Award

I have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Shannon, an author of one of my favorite blogs “Adventures in Thirty Something.” I always find something interesting when I read her blog: a new idea, a fresh outlook, a thoughtful review, gentle humor, or an inspirational quote. Shannon, it is a pleasure to follow your “Adventures.”  I recommend that everybody look at Shannon’s blog to get inspired by her creativity.

There are rules for a Liebster Award nomination:

Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you and display the award.

Answer 11 questions that the nominating blogger gives you.

Nominate from 5 to 11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award.

Let the bloggers know that you have nominated them.

Give them 11 questions to answer.

My answers to the questions that Shannon asked me are as follows:

1. Cats or Dogs?

We have two cats, who are both one years old now. They are sisters and since the time       that we adopted them from a shelter, in January, we have had lots of fun with them. Smoky is a petite black panther with a loud and demanding (when she wants something) meow. She is very affectionate and she would sleep on my lap or my husband’s lap all day long, if we let her. Lucky is a grey cat with black stripes and is very gentle and timid, unless she is hungry. She likes to bathe her pink mouse in a water bowl. At night they chase each other around the house.

2.What’s the last book that left you breathless?

It was a novel by Jack London, “To Build a Fire.” I think that all his novels are awesome.

3.What’s your favorite dessert?

I like strawberries with whipped topping.

4.What do you wish that you would have told your teenage self?

I wish to remind myself to listen to my mother because she knows better.

5.What book would you make everyone read, if you could?

The book I would make everybody to read, including me, is “The Complete Prose of Woody Allen” by Woody Allen. The book consists of “Without Feathers,” “Getting Even,” and “Side Effects.”

6.Name one thing you would outlaw.

 I would outlaw boredom.

7.What is your favorite season of the year?

I like winter for its snow and spring for its bloom and awakening.

8.Who would you want to play you in the movie of your life?

I would invite Sandra Bullock.

9.What would your super power be?

I would be multitasking in resolving conflicts and healing. I would also resurrect a few people.

10.Proper grammar or abbreviations in texts/emails/posts?

In texts and emails, I would use whatever strikes my fancy. In posts proper grammar looks better. I also enjoy reading bloggers’ stories written in an informal style.

11.What is your biggest pet peeve?

I always complain that we are becoming coach potatoes and don’t travel enough.

Thank you, Shannon for these great questions. Some of them made me think for a couple of days, which is always a good thing. In fact, I was so intrigued by your questions that I would like to ask you questions in return.
